The Black American Culture Woke Flag symbolizes unity, resilience,
creativity, and self-awareness within African American culture. Its
foundation is inspired by the original flag of the Wassoulou Empire of west
Africa (1878–1898). The Wassoulou Empire also referred to as the Mandinka
Empire or Mandingo Empire which derived from the Mali Empire famously known
to King Mansa Musa who was considered the richest man that ever lived.
Emperor Samori Toure the establisher of the Wassoulou Empire was one of the
last key figures in resisting colonialism in West Africa The empire spanned
parts of present-day Mali, Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Ivory Coast. African
Americans largely descend from the Mandinka/Mandingo people of West Africa,
with 90% tracing roots to this group and 10% to the Yoruba and Bantu
peoples. Eventually the empire was annulled by the French colonial Amy so
went its flag.
The flag's creed honors The Black American Culture which is a GLOBAL
SUPERPOWER it pays tribute to all African empires, tribes, and
civilizations. The term "Wassoulou" (pronounced WAS-SOU-LOU, meaning "hold
your head up") is how you greet the flag its colors and symbols.
